The team of Ascension Seton Smithville elves bought JW a brightly-colored shirt, socks, red suspenders, sugar-free candy and of course, a leather jacket.Ī few days before Christmas, the team, accompanied by Rebecca’s dog, Jack (dressed in a holiday sweater no less) went to visit JW in the nursing home to deliver his gifts. Jokie, Rebecca Finbohner, RN, (staff nurse), Tammi Holland, BSN, RN (case manager) and Sandra Harzke, CA, (clinical tech) decided to embrace the Christmas spirit and purchase a few items that JW might need. In December, JW recovered from his battle with pneumonia and was discharged back to the nursing home. Without hesitation, JW responded that he wanted a leather jacket. With the holidays fast-approaching, Branislav Jokie, MD asked JW what he wanted for Christmas. Despite his frail condition, JW won the staff over with his loveable personality. In November 2017, JW became sick with pneumonia and was admitted to Ascension Seton Smithville for two weeks. Known to many in the smaller, tight-knit community, JW had never married and lost his parents many years ago. She enjoys taking walks in her Smithville neighborhood and it was during one of those walks that she met an older gentleman named JW, who lived at a nearby nursing home. Rebecca Finkbohner, RN, is a nurse at Ascension Seton Smithville Regional Hospital. This commitment plays out every day in Ascension Seton hospitals, outpatient clinics and even in communities across the region.
